Samsung seeks iPhone ban in Australia
The Korean company has also appealed a preliminary injunction against the sale of its Galaxy Tab 10.1, which Apple says infringes on its iPad2.
The two technology giants have locked horns, each claiming the other has infringed on technology patents.
Samsung Electronics Australia on Monday announced it had sought to have the matters heard in the Federal Court.
Samsung claims the iPhone 4S, released last week, infringes on three patents relating to its wireless telecommunication standards.
"In light of these violations, Samsung believes the sale of such Apple devices should be injuncted," Samsung Australia said in a statement.
"Apple has continued to violate our patent rights and free-ride on our technology. We will steadfastly protect our intellectual property."
Samsung Australia is also appealing a Federal Court preliminary injunction handed down last Thursday that prohibits the sale of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia.
Apple successfully argued for the injunction after claiming Samsung's product infringes on an Apple's touch-screen patent and the technology that correctly interprets imperfect finger commands.
Samsung also announced today that it was seeking an injunction on the sale of the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPad2 in Japan.
