US lifts travel warning to Nepal

The U.S. Department of State has cancelled the warning against travel to Nepal that was issued most recently on January 12, 2011, the US Embassy in Kathmandu informed on Wednesday.
In a statement, the U.S. Embassy said the decision was made considering the considerable improvement in security conditions in Nepal.
"The US Embassy is pleased that the overall situation in Nepal has improved to such a degree that this decision could be made," read the statement.
Various tourism sectors had long been urging the US government to cancel the Travel Warning to Nepal.
The US government had issued the warning to Nepal, citing unrest in the country during the armed insurgency. The US warns its citizens against travelling to such countries where there is security risks to them.
The US decision is likely to increase the number of American tourists visiting Nepal.
